Objectives:

  • To present the existing evidence on the potential causal link between use of menopausal hormone therapy and increased risk of dementia.
  • To compare findings and the quality of evidence across study types (randomized controlled trials versus observational studies), hormones (conjugated estrogens versus estradiol; progestins versus progesterone), and different durations and dosages of hormone therapy use.
  • To present the latest findings from a nationwide study on the dementia risk with hormone therapy use with a focus on the potential dementia link with short-term use around the age of menopause, which is the currently recommended regimen of use.

Requirements for successful completion: Participants will be awarded contact hours commensurate with participation after completion of the post-test with a score of 70% or higher.
